Technician - Magic Planet 


Job Purpose:

              Assist the Technical Department in the Maintenance and Administration of all revenue generating assets.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Ensure peak operating condition of all equipment under his care including peripherals.
  • Maintain adequate stock of common spare parts.
  • Ensure cost effective repair.
  • Follow up on outstanding repair work keeping downtime to the absolute minimum.
  • Keep accurate inventory records and be accountable for spares consumption.
  • Follow up on complex repairs or failures with equipment manufacturers.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of technical tools.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of the technical workshop.
  • Ensure proper commissioning and decommissioning of new and used equipment.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of the established preventive maintenance schedule and assist in process improvement.
  • Ensure timely submission of technical reports required by line managers or other stakeholders when required.
  • Adherers to processes and procedures as prescribed in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual
  • Adheres to Health and Safety Regulations as prescribed by the Health and Safety Policy
  • Carries out any other duties as and when required by the Senior Technician or immediate line manager.
  • Accountable for downtime management and associated revenue loss (Downtime is benchmarked at no more than 1.5% of total operating time available per FEC per month)
  • Ensure the adequate update of technical operation (PPM, CM, RM & 3rd party Inspection) within the technical asset management.

Assist the operation in their daily requirements wherever possible.

Personal characteristics

  • Must be able to work independently on most minor repair work.
  • Must have basic administrative skills.
  • Must be competent in Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to communicate in written and spoken English
  • Must be able to accurately diagnose faults and effectively repair equipment

Minimum experience

  • Should have a minimum of two years’ experience with FEC’s
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Needs to be competent in reading and interpreting technical manuals and drawings
  • Must be able to compile basic technical reports
