Role Purpose:

To ensure that VOX Cinemas provides a wide range of Food & Beverage offerings using the best available ingredients / products, whilst maintaining profit margins and service standards.

The F&B Manager would actively display leadership skills and provide guidance to the team members for F&B operations, when dealing with all aspects of guest contact activities, experience as well as both, service and quality product delivery to customers.

To oversee supervision of the operations team, to ensure efficient, systematic, organized and creative planning and preparation across VOX Cinemas. 

Be responsible for direct F&B performance on specific international geographic sites.

Ensure that budgeted revenues are achieved through the highest standard of quality and service.

Stay up to date with the latest market trends and customer requirements to cater to all territories that VOX Cinemas operates in.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


Planning & leadership

  • Support Majid Al Futtaim Cinema’s business expansion and growth across the region.
  • Effectively communicate the Food & Beverage division’s strategies, objectives and performance expectations.
  • Provide strong and effective leadership to the team, by assuming the responsibilities of the Food & Beverage Director, in his absence.
  • Lead, coach, mentor and manage staff to ensure goals are achieved and to drive superior business outcomes.
  • Follow the values, mission and vision, and consistently display integrity. 
  • Develop, empower and motivate others to meet their KPIs.

Identify potential risk and report as required, while coaching others on corrective measures

Food & Beverage Operations

  • Plan menus for all food outlets across all VOX cinema locations.
  • Schedule and coordinate the work of chefs, cooks and other kitchen employees to assure that food preparation is economical and technically correct, and within budgeted labor costs.
  • Ensure that all product displays, digital signage and food menus are designed and maintained to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Develop standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation, thereby consistently assuring high quality.
  • Develop policies and procedures to enhance and measure quality; continually update written policies and procedures to reflect state-of-the-art techniques, equipment and terminology.
  • Define all the required Key Performance Indicators critical to the operations and ensure that a mechanism is established to track, monitor and review F&B operations.
  • Ensure that consumable and non-consumable goods are correctly stored across all locations.
  • Attend and contribute to the weekly Food and Beverage meeting.

Sales & Marketing

  • Generate revenue through promotions and sales, and ensure daily budget and cost control are monitored.
  • Ensure effective up-selling, optimize opportunities for marketing the F&B concepts, control quality of merchandising displays, to provide ongoing guidance and support for all departmental staff in the day-to-day planning and execution of assigned task

Cost & Wastage Control

  • Minimize food costs, exercise portion control for all items served and assist in establishing menu selling prices.
  • Prepare necessary data for applicable parts of the budget; projects annual food, labor and other costs and monitor actual financial results; take corrective action, as necessary to help assure that financial goals are met.
  • Monitor and minimize wastage of consumables and maintain labor productivity ratios
  • Ensure that profit margins are maintained, agreed costs are not exceeded through effective control systems, including sales analysis, sales mix, menu and product costing..

Stakeholder & Supplier Management

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in functions within VOX and other MAF business units.
  • Monitor guest reaction, ensure guest satisfaction, respond to guest comments, requests and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Liaise with the Food and Beverage Director, with regards to F&B pricing, granting of F&B related concessions and menu planning, as dictated by existing market trends
  • Maintain strong relationships with current suppliers and continually identify and source potential suppliers from within the region and abroad.

Compliance & Food Regulations

  • Be fully conversant with all statutory requirements regarding Food and Beverage operations in each of the territories that VOX Cinemas operates in.
  • Ensure that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen areas at all times.
  • Safeguard all food preparation employees, by working closely with the training department in implementing training to increase their knowledge on safety, sanitation and accident prevention principles.
  • Evaluate food products and equipment to assure that quality standards are consistently attained.

Minimum experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant environment, including at least 3 years at a managerial level.
  • Extensive experience in menu design or catering services

Minimum Qualifications/education

  • Graduate in any discipline
