Role Purpose:

To own and manage the evolution of the Design Standards, Design Policies and Design Procedures for the Retail Design & Delivery (RDD) department, ensuring consistency is achieved across all regions, asset typologies and retail functions.

The individual will need to oversee the generation (and ongoing maintenance) of RDD briefing kits which ensure tenants deliver fit-outs to the highest creative & technical standards, within program, in the most cost-effective way, whilst adhering to local authority regulations, in the safest manner and ensure alignment and implementation across all projects.

 

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Develop, own, implement and maintain live Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Shopping Malls Design Standards across all regionals and mall typologies
  2. Manage the design communication between all key MAF stakeholders and external design consultants related to RDD Standards
  3. Discuss long/ medium/ short term goals with Director of RDD and build strategy on how to deliver objectives within a set timeframe
  4. Familiarisation of all existing RDD criteria, Policies & Procedures (P&Ps) and drawing documentation. (Landlord’s Architectural & Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) provision/ design criteria/ delivery guidelines/ Health & Safety)
  5. Liaising with relevant RDD and MAF stakeholders and coordinate ideas for improvement within their field of expertise, as well as assisting with rationalisation of current drawings, criteria and P&Ps
  6. Chair ‘Standards’ related meetings and focus groups, take meeting notes and ensure accountability of actionable tasks. Follow up where required
  7. Lead resolution of issues and obstacles that threaten the achievements of desired design standards
  8. Develop document templates for each asset typology. Ensure consistency between kit of parts used as briefing tools
  9. Regular update meetings with Director of RDD to report on status and progress
  10. Manage external consultants if required
  11. Ensure compliance with the MAFP SMBU’s Code of Conduct, Departmental policies and HC Policies and Procedures at all times

Qualifications/ education level

  • University level qualification in Interior Architecture / Retail Design, Project Management
  • 5 - 7 years of progressive and successful experience in managing retail and F&B openings, ideally in large Shopping Mall / retail development company in GCC or abroad
