Role Purpose:

Majid Al Futtaim has embarked in a very ambitious analytics transformation, leveraging state of the art data and technology to instill a data driven culture throughout its businesses. More than technology, the most important component of a transformation lies in its change management processes.

Based in Dubai in the Advanced Analytics Centre Of Excellence and reporting into the Director Strategy & Transformation within the central holding company, the Manager Strategy of Transformation will be responsible for shaping up the analytics vision, strategy and operating model, ensuring it is in sync with the business strategies and cascaded appropriately to our different businesses.

To increase the impact of our analytics, use cases, the Manager Strategy & Transformation will define and manage the change management processes, working closely with senior executives across our group. This role is critical to deliver the ambitious objectives of the (Advanced Analytics) team across the group and will be a real change agent that will lead Opcos stakeholders through the analytics transformation by establishing himself as a trusted thought leader and continuously driving our analytics strategy.

As the AA CoE is in its fourth year of existence, the manager Strategy & Transformation will have a critical role to play in shaping up the new strategy to turn the unit from a cost center CoE to a stand-alone business unit with a potential of becoming the first data and analytics unicorn in the region.

 

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Leadership & strategy definition

  • Develop and maintain strong industry and competitive knowledge; have a strong understanding of global as well as industry specific trends related to Majid Al Futtaim businesses and focus industries/ geographies
  • Manage a team of 1-2 colleagues as well as external vendors when relevant
  • Working closely with the Head of Business Analytics in defining the group-wide Analytics strategy and its KPIS.
  • Lead the implementation of the operating model and the governance for the Centre Of Excellence, Operating Companies and Business Units, communicating it widely across the group.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with analytics stakeholders in our OpCos and lead the change management effort relating to use cases (definition and deployment)
  • Define the plans and plan implementation for the future stand-alone business unit that the AA COE will transition into.

Change Management

  • Conducts regular interviews with stakeholders across the organization to understand what works and what can be improved in the analytics transformation
  • Develops and regularly updates the overall change management masterplan
  • Drives change management initiatives directly, or allocates them to relevant stakeholders in the organization
  • Establish and own the agile operating model, ensuring that squads, chapters, tribes, BUs, OpCos and functions are operating in line with the defined model
  • Conducts PMO of critical initiatives (led by the BUs) to ensure impact from analytics is fully captured
  • Fosters agility within squads, by a) onboarding new squads on the way of working and b) monitoring / supporting squads during the main interactions
  • Work with global organizations (universities, NGO, tech organizations…) to establish and grow partnerships that support Majid Al Futtaim strategic vision

Communication, governance & reporting

  • Work with relevant stakeholders to create the right narratives about our analytics transformation
  • Leads the organization of the different A2 steering committees, and curate the material to be showcased during the steercos
  • Liaise with the internal communication department to ensure the relevant messages are passed to the organization in a timely and relevant manner
  • Develops, implements and improves monitoring tools and mechanisms to assess the progress of the transformation (qualitative and quantitative progress)

The successful candidate will have an exceptional track record of working within businesses to tackle large-scale problems, across multiple industries and functions, preferably with exposure to data and analytics programs

Candidates are expected to be enthusiastic and have excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communications skills, with intuitive storytelling ability.

  • Strong analytical skills, fluency in performing rigorous quantitative analyses and familiarity with financial/ accounting and key operational metrics
  • Hardworking, energetic, charismatic, and a self-starter eager to drive work independently, while able to effectively work with multi-functional teams
  • High aptitude to learn quickly, assimilate to new teams and projects, and work well under pressure with appropriate attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative and have a strong sense of ownership over shaping and executing upon our strategy and prioritized initiatives
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with limited supervision with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build credibility with business partners to gain support for analysis and recommendations and to collaborate with cross-functional partners

 

Minimum qualification/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in in a quantitative field (business, math, economics, finance, statistics, science, engineering) with master’s degree in business, economics or finance

 

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Management Consulting, technology, product management, Investment Banking or Corporate Strategy.
  • Experience within the advanced analytics, digital and retail, consumer with a focus on emerging trends technologies is a plus.
