ROLE SUMMARY


The “Director – Fresh Food” will be responsible for developing and adapting the country sourcing & marketing strategy for Fresh Food to ensure that the current business model remains competitive across the different markets. The role holder is also responsible for spearheading the team to ensure the best resources are in place for the sourcing function to help achieve organization-wide objectives. The role holder is also responsible for determining what products get to store shelves, in catalogues, and online, Omnichannel.

 

ROLE PROFILE

 

Sourcing Strategic Planning

 

  • Manage the strategic planning process for the assigned categories based on key consumer insights to enhance current portfolio and improve communication with consumers.
  • Propose plans to increase profitability and productivity in the Food Merchandising function.
  • Consolidate and recommend the best practice for strategies to be used within the Food Merchandising function to optimize productivity and achieve organisation objectives.
  • Ensure the execution of the existing planogram, assortment & new concepts as well as always update it with new concepts, ideas, customers trends & behaviours .
  • Review the yearly cat-Man with team to ensure the growth of the category &reinforce being the destination for all the segments for a pleasant customer shopping experience.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for sourcing goods and maintaining desired stock levels.
  • Direct and control shortages and overstocking of products through designing and implementing control strategies.
  • Ensure items meet local sales and volume targets, price positioning and profit goals.
  • Monitor the Matrix of big events across all the year & ensure the profitability, volume, diversity, attractiveness, weighted offers & price competitiveness.
  • Ensure the execution of all e-commerce activities, assortment updates, promo calendar & the exclusivity demand.
  • Align the Fresh Food strategy with the overall strategy to increase its market share.
  • Standardize the merchandising, sourcing strategy for Fresh Food products across MAF Retail
  • Ensure Fresh Food items meet local sales and volume targets, price positioning and profit goals

 

Sourcing Optimization

 

  • Monitor and analyze business performance, business goals (awareness, share, consumer diagnostics, profitability, etc.) and the competition
  • Conduct and oversee all major suppliers’ negotiations of high-level agreements
  • Mutual guidance to Commercial Heads on solving issues with top suppliers & all the top 25 categories suppliers on a strategic level to avoid any inquiries could reflect business.
  • Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.

 

Vendor Relationships

 

  • Review profitable suppliers and initiate partnerships.
  • Nurture relationships with existing suppliers and provide inputs to negotiate the best prices for the organization when required.
  • Provide specialist inputs on the risk evaluation of existing and future supply contracts and agreements
  • Develop and utilize network to expand supplier base and attend international fairs, trade shows to identify new product trends and potential suppliers.
  • Work closely with marketing research companies to obtain relevant information, including the development and implementation of brand audit studies and focus groups.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications/education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant field.
  • Master’s Degree is preferred.

Minimum experience

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • 5+ years in Retail.
